Welcome to the USS Cross!

The year is 2394 and the Federation's Civil War has reached its pinnacle. The Militarist faction has won and the Federation Loyalists are in hiding or actively on the run. But just as the Federation settles, an old player resurfaces with a new vendetta against the Militarists and the Federation President,
Richard Brook. All that stands in his way is everything...

You have discovered USS Cross, an Insignia Class Starship, under the command of Commander Joshua Hart. The primary mission of the Cross is to restore the Federation's freedom from the oppressive regime of Militarist President Richard Brook and his fleet bent on military domination of all Federation worlds - past, present and future.

Explore the depths of a mystery with an answer so shocking, it will shake what is left of the Federation to its core.

If you bear the cross gladly, it will bear you.

USS Cross is a Star Trek role-playing SIM that is played using Nova, a role-playing system developed by Anodyne Productions. The story begins in the year 2394 - fourteen years after the events from the last Star Trek canon movie, Star Trek: Nemesis, and it is a time of great upheaval. The Romulan Star Empire has suffered a catastrophic disaster with the nova of their sun, the Hobus star, spreading the Empire's resources thin. Starfleet is at war with itself as military minds attempt to alter the fundamental tenets of Starfleet. The Klingons continue to make bold moves outward, returning to an Empire rich in wealth and gaining more ground each day. The Gorn Hegemony faces a devastating climate change which could lead to an extinction level event. While chaos and enemies abound, USS Cross must drag itself from near destruction to become the shining beacon of freedom for those in the Federation living in fear.

“The crew of the USS Cross was incredibly excited to learn that they have won the Gold Unit of Merit for the month of September. Since we started just over three months ago, we’ve hit the ground running with an inventive plot arc that will carry us over several missions. This is the hardest working, insanely creative group of writers I’ve had the pleasure of working with in a long time. A simple idea, a single sentence in a post spurs pages of well considered and well written posts. In addition to the in-character portion of the game, we have our own Discord channel where we interact almost daily. We’ve become good friends out-of-character through our group chats. I think that distinction, that we are friends outside the game, more than anything else, sets the USS Cross apart from other SIMs. The Gold Unit of Merit really does belong to this crew, these writers, and most importantly this crazy group of friends!”

Good evening all,

For those Americans in our group,I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I've never really considered it, but if any player outside the US wants to send me a list of non-American holidays, I'll make a point to send out well wishes on those days as well!

I hope those of you celebrating enjoyed a day of fun, family and happiness.

» Welcome

Hi gang,

Let's welcome Lieutenant Jennifer Richardson M.D., our new Chief Medical Officer, and (currently) Ensign (rank pending updated bio) Kether McCloud, our new Chief Strategic Operations Officer! That makes us a full boat now, though there could be an argument made for a Chief Diplomat, but that's for later discussion!

You can both join us on Discord using the open invitation at: https://discord.gg/WBuWvW8

We're an eccentric bunch, but we're fun and what more needs saying?

Welcome to the Cross (kinda, cuz we don't have a ship yet)!

» Promotion!

Posted on Sun Oct 1st, 2017 @ 3:41am by Commander Joshua Hart in General News

Hi gang,

After our first two months in action, I wanted to reward one of our players/most active characters appropriately. So it is with great pleasure and my proud duty to announce the promotion of Ensign John Warren to Lieutenant Junior Grade. This is already reflected on the manifest and we will have a joint post out to everyone to establish it officially.

Congratulations on a well deserved promotion.

» Mission Days

Posted on Fri Sep 22nd, 2017 @ 4:35am by Commander Joshua Hart in Out of Character

Hi guys,

Since we've decided to make mission days a thing, I just wanted to lay down a few ground rules.

1. Mission days progress at the rate of the plot. Once we actually get 'into' the mission, ONLY the CO, XO or 2XO can advance the mission days.

2. Please try to release your mission day posts in chronological order. For example, if you have a post with the CO at 0800 hours and a post with the XO at 1200 hours, but you finish the post with the XO first, do not post it until the JP with the CO is completed and posted. Obviously, this goes with all players and all joint posts.

3. I'm NOT micromanaging the plot or the Mission Days. This gets tedious for me and annoying to players. Try to be polite to your fellow players by not advancing the Mission Day (unless you're Hart, Kaida or Ancora) without permission from the command team first. If you have a post that moves the plot along and advances the MD, we can look to see if it's appropriate to do so and then give the go ahead.

I'm sure I'll think of a few more as we continue this venture.

Greetings all,

Mission One is drawing to a close. There are a few straggling posts in Crossroads, but we should begin moving on to mission two, The Graveyard, in which we will resurrect the USS Cross. Please finish all posts in Crossroads by the end of this week and begin thinking about mission two. You can find the abstract for the mission here:

Great job to all involved in mission one and I can't wait to get some space beneath our feet in mission two!
